Art group is an opportunity for students to get together and talk about art. The class is covering the principles and elements of design, art history, and art techniques. The art history portion is on contemporary art and is a discussion of artists from the PBS Series Art 21.

Class includes outside assignments that can be completed in any medium of the students’ choice. Students who complete the weekly assignments are provided with art supplies and prizes.

The group will also have guest artists sharing their work, guest artist who will be teaching art technique, videos, and at least one field trip to a local museum.

Art group meets Monday evenings from 5-6 p.m. The first 15-20 minutes are in the CUP library and is a snack and social time. The rest of class is in the CUP classroom. Children stay in the library with fun art activities of their own. This class is open to anyone living at CUP and any one receiving services from case managers through Our Family Youth Services.
